Making chilli powder is quite a difficult task to do at home from your bought or home grown chillies, so here is a selection of fine quality imported chilli powders and speciality blends for your home-cooking needs.

Cajun Spice Blend, 35g refill, 95p.
This is a traditional New Orlean spice with a nice kick of cayenne pepper, but with some lovely other flavours added to the mix. This is a family favourite, especially in making cajun prawns, which we serve with rice or salad. There are quite a few ingredients including paprika, basil, garlic, onion, thyme, parsley and cinnamon.
Jerk Seasoning Blend, 35g refill, 95p.
Jerk seasoning uses chilli flakes, and is most often used as a rub for meats. A traditional way to use the spice is to mix it with dark rum to make a paste, rub it into the meat (leaving for at least an hour to allow the flavours to seep in), and then pan-fry, roast or barbeque.

Paprika is made from very mild peppers, which is why it has a similar appearance to chilli powders and some heat.
